French 75​ Cocktail

Ingredients:
1 part Gin

1/2 part freshly squeezed lemon juice

3/4 part simple syrup (directions below)

Champagne, chilled

Lemon peel garnish (optional)

Simple Syrup Directions:

Mix equal parts water and sugar in a small saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat.  (1/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup water makes enough for 2 drinks).  Allow syrup to cool before adding to the cocktail.

I save my syrup in a small mason jar and use as needed.  I like to use leftover syrup on cake layers to keep them moist.  Just lightly brush the syrup over each layer before adding the frosting.

 

To make French 75 Cocktail:

Fill a shaker with ice.  Add the gin, lemon juice and simple syrup.  Shake well and strain into a flute glass. 

 

Top with champagne and garnish with a lemon twist.
